Filming Behind The Scenes - Day Four

Re-Filming List
After our first few sessions of editing, we realised in order to improve the narrative and structure of our short film, we needed to both re-film and also add parts so that it would flow better. Not only will this make it a much better narrative to follow, but it will also some better stylistic elements. We've tried to make as detailed list as possible for where we aim to improve so that we can still follow our schedule precisely and stay up to date with both the film and other tasks we've been assigned.

Filming Behind The Scenes - Day Two
We further filmed our selves creating our short film to show how we moved onto experimenting further with the camera and also to improve upon scenes we had already done. We brought together a number of our ideas so that we could get a number of different shots we can potentially use in the final film.
Filming Images - Second Day
Here's the images from our second day of filming. The second day involved both improving and adding certain scenes of the short film so that continuity was clear. We tried to collect numerous amounts of images in order to show us all taking part in the filming process and us all doing different tasks.

Here are a few video updates from our first day of filming where we have explained what equipment we have gathered together and also how we intend to use it effectively and safely. We have also considered what we can do to improve certain shots before and after so that we can have the best short film possible.
Reserach and Planning Behind The Scenes
In order to show our research and planning further, we decided to video the process to show how we all contributed and gave input with ideas in order to make a successful short film. The video also shows how we came up with initial ideas and put them into a presentation to demonstrate our ideas.

Plan Preparation
These are some notes we've created in order to have clearer plan on what to do whilst creating our short film. Creating this checklist will help us stick to our our plan which will overall make a more effetive and better quality short film.
Title Text Ideas
We've created a few title text ideas for our short film in order to place it on a title screen or to use it as part of our auxillary tasks. We've tried to create something that applies to both our target audience, genre and film title.
Video Update
Here's a quick update with where we are with out short film and also what we've done most recently and what we hope to move on to.

Location Risk Assessment
We've produced a risk assessment of our filming location in order to pick out any hazards or risks that could occur during the course of filming. This is so we can ensure we take the proper precautions to avoid any of them happening.
Short Movie Research
I've conducted some initial research into short movies in order to see what makes people want to create short films, what their target audience is and also find some existing examples of successful short movies.

Student Short Film Critique
In order to gain some further understanding of how to be successful when making a short film, and also we to avoid, we watched two student films from previous college years and analysed their features in order to ensure our own work is as good as possible.
The first film we viewed was "A Chat Roulette Love Story", where the idea is very unique yet original at the same time with how a romance can happen online, which is quite modern. The use of the messaging tool to show how the relationship develops is very appealing, and is a key feature in showing the narrative. In addition, the use of multiple shots from the same camera position with the character changing positions every time in order to show how time is passing is very convincing. It is somewhat a modern twist on a traditional love story when the other character doesn't show up and it also has some comedy elements with the sequence of shots when the character is getting ready. The music was sometimes a bit off putting to the rest of the film, however the overall narrative is quite impressive and charming at the same time, with some good continuity camera shots which is also convincing. Overall there is a good original idea, something modern, however sometimes the msuic is a bit off putting.
The second film we viewed was "Catcher In The Cap"which although is a good idea, does sometimes lose my interest and also has some sound issues with the dialect and perhaps a lack of soundtrack which came make some parts of the film a bit awkward, however there is one eventually introduced which adds to the narrative a bit more. The selection of talking scenes over the sound track is quite good feature of the film. There isn't much to the narrative however its simple and comedic which is a good viewing experience. Some parts of the film seem to a bit unconvincing however this perhaps links to the comedy of the film. overall the film has some good comedy elements, although not as good as the first film, it has a simple narrative which is easy to view, however some sound issues let it down in parts.

Questionaire Research
In order to gain some feedback from our target audience, we created some questionaires following our pitch to get some extra information on what people made of our film and also to see if there we're any improvements we can make to make it both more clear and suitable to our target audience. Here is some of the feedback taht we received. Overall, the feedback was quite positive with little improvements suggested apart from perhaps making our narrative clearer which it will be once our storyboard is finished fully. The feedback also shows that they believe the film does fit them as our target audience and that it could be shown in a variety of fromats such as online etc. The elments that we described within the pitch we're also praised, saying that they related to the genre and target audience well.
Team Short Film Pitch
This is our short film presentation that we showed to some of our target audience and other groups within our class in order to show our ideas and make them clear for what we're trying to achieve. We showed how we're able to come to our decsions whilst also considering our target resarch as a priority. We also introuced parts of our storyboard for the short film as well as explaining why we chose the comparative film that we did and how it related to what we're doing.

Work Schedule/Plan
So that we complete our work efftively to the highest standard, as a group we have created a schedule and plan for our the next couple of months so that we could see what we needed to do and when for. This would mean none of us will fall behind both as a group when filiming and editing and individually with the auxillary tasks.
Equipment/Props - We've created a simple list of the main things we need before we start filiming, this will make filiming go much more smoothly and will also not waste time:
Body Language
A-
Decor
Props
Lighting
A-
Costume
E-
Ssetting
Technical Skills Features - Here is another anagram for technical features whilst filiming and what to consider when filming.
Framing
Lighting
Angles
Mis En Scene
Editing
Camera Work
Acting
Theme/Narrative
Style/Sound
We then moved on to a week by week plan of actions for when we were goign to complete certain tasks so that we stay on top of the work.

Animated Storyboard
This is our completed storyboard for out short film so that we have a clearer idea of what we're trying to for and will ultimately help us more so when coming to filiming and editing. We've tried to make it as detailed yet as simple and clear as possible so that we could all follow it easily with no confusion.
Team Presentation
As part of our planning as group, we had to create a presenation for our short film concept in order to explain its main features. We firstly introduced ourselves as a group before moving on to explain about our target audience research which was our main focus for the presenation in showing that we had a clear audience, whilst we wanted to show we had considered numerous ideas as well. We were also able to shopw briefly parts of out storyboard to give an indication that we had a clear structure for our short film whilst this would also help us when being able to complete our film. In addition, we all individually showed our own moodboards to show how our ideas had devleoped and merged togetehr to make an effective film that met typical conventions and the aims of the brief. We also looked at a comparative film trailer to give the audience an idea of something we were trying to go for and what inspired us with our narrative.
